Sound is Vibration

In science, we learned how sound works. It turns out that sound is caused by vibrations in the air, sort of like ripples in water. Hard to believe since you can't really see the air. We made an instrument that vibrated and this caused it to make sounds. How the heck can sound be vibration?

When you shake out a carpet and it makes a snapping sound, that's kind of like a sonic boom!
